GameStop Corporation serves as a retailer of video game products and personal computer entertainment software. The Company sells new and used video game hardware, software, and accessories, as well as PC entertainment software and related accessories and other merchandise. Operating mostly in the United States, but also in Canda, Australia, and Europe, the retail stores are located in shopping malls and strip centers. GameStop Corp. goes by the brands GameStop and EB Games and also operates the E-commerce websites www.gamestop.com and www.ebgames.com. Publishing is also another facet to their operations with their multi-platform video game magazine Game Informer. As of November 1, 2008, GameStop Corp. operated a total of 5,734 stores in the United States, Australia, Canada, and Europe. The United States segment operated a total 4,264 GameStop stores, while Canada, Australia, and Europe operated a total of 318 stores, 337 stores, and 815 stores respectively. So far, for the three quarters of the fiscal year 2008, GameStop Corp. opened 248 additional stores in the United States(526 total stores opened) while spending $183.6 million for the purpose of opening new store locations and also for investing in information systems.
