McDonald's Corporation operates company owned or entrepreneur franchised restaurants in more than 100 countries around the world. They serve primarily a value menu of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and a host of breakfast food products. As of September 30, 2008, the company operated a total of 31,677 restaurants in 118 countries, of which 21,183 were operated by franchisees, 3,855 were operated by affiliates(mostly in Japan), and 6,639 were operated by the Company. The company expects their capital expenditures to be roughly about $2 billion for the year 2008. The money will be spent on existing restaurants and opening over 1,000 restaurants through developmental licenses.
