Darden Restaurants, Inc. are owners and operators of full service dining restaurants in the United States and Canada. As of November 23, 2008, the Company operated a total of 1,734 restaurants. The restaurant brands and store counts are as follows: 684 Red Lobster restaurants(655 in the U.S. and 29 in Canada), 670 Olive Garden restaurants(664 in the U.S. and 6 in Canada), 314 LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants, 34 The Capital Grille restaurants, 23 Bahama Breeze restaurants, and 7 Seasons 52 restaurants. Darden also operates two other specialty restaurants, Hemenway's Seafood Grille & Oyster Bar and The Old Grist Mill Tavern. Darden Restaurants, Inc. spent $297.9 million in capital expenditures for the first six months of its fiscal 2009 year. The capital expenditures were used mainly for the building of new restaurants and the company's new Restaurant Support Center and also for replacing equipment and technology upgrades.
