Stage Stores, Inc. is a specialty department store retailer which offers national brand name and private label apparel, accessories, cosmetics(Estee Lauder and Clinique counters), and footwear for the entire family. Other merchandise categories include men's or young men's, misses sportswear, children's, dresses, junior sportswear, special sizes, intimate clothing, home and gifts, and swimwear. The company operates under the brands Stage, Bealls, and Palais Royal throughout the South Central, Southwestern and Northwestern states. The Peebles brand name operates throughout the Midwestern, Southeastern, Mid-Atlantic, and New England states. As of November 1, 2008, the Company operated a total of 731 stores in 38 states. Close to 69% of all the company's stores are concentrated in towns and communities with population below 50,000. The company estimates that capital expenditures for the fiscal 2008 year to be approximately $80 million. The money will be used primarily for the opening of new stores, expansions, relocations and remodels. So far up till November 1, 2008, Stage Stores, Inc. opened 45 new stores and relocated 11 stores.
