Office Depot, Inc. is an operator of office supplies and services in the United States and internationally. The company is organized into three different business segments, which are as follows: North American Retail division, North American Business Solutions division, and International division. Office Depot, Inc. derives its revenues from office supply stores, a contract sales force, Internet sites, direct marketing catalogs and call centers. At the end of 2009, the Company operated 1,152 office products stores in the United States and Canada while opening 6 stores and closing 121 stores for the year 2009. The company plans to open 20 new stores for the year 2010. Office Depot had invested approximately $131 million for the year 2009(a drastic reduction from $330 million for the year 2008 because of the economic downturn) in its capital expenditures program, mostly related to their IT improvements and distribution network costs. For the year 2010 though, the company intends to increase their capital expenditure investing to about $200 million.
