Bank of America Corporation is a financial services holding company that operates in the United States and internationally. The company provides both banking and non-banking financial services and products through three primary segments. The Global Consumer and Small Business Banking segment offers savings accounts, regular and interest bearing checking accounts, CD's, retirement accounts, and debit cards. They also offer refinancing for home purchases, reverse mortgage products, and insurance services. The Global Corporate and Investment Banking segment provides commercial and corporate bank loans, real estate lending products, and leasing and asset-based lending products. The Global Wealth and Investment segment offers investment and brokerage services, financial planning services, estate management, credit and banking expertise, and diversified asset management products to institutional clients. Bank of America operated 6,100 retail banking offices and 18,500 automated teller machines as of year end 2007. The acquisitions they have transacted during the last couple of years are ABN North America Holding Company, U.S. Trust Corporation, and Countrywide Financial Corporation.
