Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. is a full-line sporting goods retailer which offers various brand name sporting goods equipment, apparel, and footwear in a specialty store environment. As of November 1, 2008, Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. operated 384 Dick's Sporting Goods stores, 85 Golf Galaxy stores, and 14 Chick's stores in California. The Company operates in 41 states and most of the stores are located in the eastern half portion of the United States. Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. spent gross capital expenditures of $159.9 million for the three quarters ended November 1, 2008, mainly for the new construction of stores and remodel or relocation of existing stores. Also the money was used for the purchase of information technology assets and expenses related to distribution facilities and corporate headquarters. During the three quarters ended November 1, 2008, the Company opened 49 stores.
